About The Live Your Dream Awards

Soroptimist International, run by a network of 100,000 members and volunteers across more than 100 countries, is the organization behind LiveYourDreams.org. In short, the purpose of the program is to supply financial assistance to women who are the primary support line for their families and who are seeking to begin their higher level education (skills training or undergraduate degree).

There are three levels to the Live Your Dream grant which include:

• Level One – 1,300+ women are chosen to receive up to $1,000 in grant money.
• Level Two – Also called the Region Level, 100+ of the level one recipients are granted $3,000 to $5,000, on top of the previous grant.
• Level Three – The International level, just three of the regional level winners are chosen to receive the final grants. An additional $10,000 on top of the previous two levels of grant money.

Each and every year, over $2.1 million in educational grants are awarded to more than 1,500 women, many of them facing insurmountable challenges ranging from substance abuse to extreme poverty, or even the loss of a spouse.

Some impressive stats from recipients of the awards are as follows:

• 90% were able to secure a higher paying employment opportunity.
• 85% report enjoying an increased living standard.
• A whopping 90% are now serving as a positive role model for those who depend on them
• More than 90% report a boost in self-esteem.

How to Apply for The Live Your Dream Awards

First things first. To qualify for these grants, you need to meet the following criteria:

• You provide the primary financial support for your family. This can be spouse, kids, siblings, parents, etc.
• You are in financial need.
• You are either enrolled in, or accepted to, a skills training program or an undergraduate program.
• You possess the motivation to fulfill your career and educational goals.
• You live in one of the Soroptimist International of the Americas’ member countries/territories which include: United States of America, Colombia, Canada, Bolivia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Guam, Korea, Mexico, and several others. • You have not been a recipient of a Live Your Dream Award or a Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity.
• You do not have a graduate degree.
• You are not a member of Soroptimist, nor an employee of Soroptimist International. Additionally, you cannot be a family member to a member or employee.
• You have a Social Security number or a Tax ID number. (The reasoning here is for tax reasons and are only a requirement for United States residents. This information will only be asked for in the event you are awarded a grant.)

LiveYourDream.org was launched by Soroptimist back in 2012, as a digital arm for volunteers and activists. Its main purpose is to enable access to education and violence-free living to women. This came from sheer necessity as Soroptimist saw that their other programs at the time (such as Dream It, Be It) were not meeting the vast needs out there.
