No schooling beyond high school is required to offer cleaning services to businesses and residential customers.

Waitress – This is one of the highest paying jobs for single moms and it doesn’t require any kind of degree or schooling. Opt for getting a job waiting tables at a restaurant that is busy and has a good reputation for the people earning a lot in tips. Training is typically done on the job and the field is typically easy to enter.

Office Manager – If you are good at doing clerical work and know how an office runs, you may want to consider looking for an office manager position. The job does not require a degree, but relies more on experience and know-how. The average hourly wage for an office manager is around $20.

Notary Public – This type of job puts you in a position of watching people legally sign documents. Yes, it’s that easy. It is something you can do working for yourself, having people come to the home, meeting you at a specific location, or you can go to them. The average notary public earns around $22 per hour, and you do not need a degree to do this type of job. Becoming a notary public depends on the state you live in, but generally you will complete a short training course, get a notary bond, pay a state registration fee, and that’s it. This is a flexible job that pays well for the single mom who needs a schedule that will allow her to be there for her kids.

Dental Hygienist – This is another high paying career that single moms can enter with a two year degree. Dental hygienists spend their time cleaning people’s teeth. The average salary for the job is $41 per hour and most dental offices offer their employees great hours. You should be able to find a two year degree program for this at your local community college.

Ultrasound Technician – This is a high paying job that requires only an associate degree (two year degree) to enter the field. The average ultrasound technician earns around $40 per hour. Paralegal – The average paralegal in American makes around $32 per hour. While there are degree programs available to become a paralegal, you do not have to have a degree to enter the field. You can also opt to do a certificate program or earn a two year degree to enter the field. This type of job will have you working in a law office alongside attorneys.
